What are Geriatric/Adult Home Health Care Services?

Adult and geriatric home health care services provides skilled nursing care on an hourly basis by a licensed Registered nurse or licensed practical nurse. Care for adult patients can either be short-term or long-term care provided inside of the home for a duration of 4 to 24 hours a day. 

Who is Considered an Adult or Geriatric? 

Adult patients are anyone over the age of 21 years of age. Ages 21 and below qualify for pediatric home health care services. The geriatric age range begins around the age of 65.

What qualifies me to have home health services for seniors or adults?

Adults may qualify for adult home health care services by having one or more of the following conditions:

  • Have an enteral feeding tube (G/J Tube, PEG Tube, or NG Tube) and requires enteral nutrition

  • Requires intermittent or continuous intravenous therapy

  • Have a tracheostomy tube and need tracheostomy care

  • Ventilator dependent

  • Chest physiotherapy
